#PP Strażnik Żyrandola, The Guardian of the Chandelier
ironic nickname for Polish presidents. It was first used by the PiS populists against president Bronisław Komorowski, then upheld by the liberal opposition after 2015 as far as president Andrzej Duda was concerned.
While both sides claim the presidents earned this nickname due to lack of serious activity, Poland’s constitution grants very few rights to the president. The nickname is thus somehow anchored in the Constitution and should not be considered offensive.
